Free TikTok Shop Audit: What to Check Before You Sign

Several firms offer a free TikTok Shop audit before you sign. Here is what to confirm about access, deliverables and ownership so the audit is worth taking.

A free TikTok Shop audit is worth taking when it names what it reviews, asks for narrow and revocable access, and hands you the written findings whether or not you hire the firm that ran it. Several agencies and software firms publish a free audit offer before a sale. The offers look alike on the surface, and they are not equal.

Key takeaways:

Which TikTok Shop agencies will audit an affiliate program for free?

More than one does, and the format is usually a request form followed by a call. One agency's audit page describes a live call that names what is holding a shop back, with findings emailed after the call whether or not the brand works with the agency. Another publishes a six-area affiliate audit covering commission structure, creator base, sampling, outreach, retention and measurement.

Those pages show the range. Some offers are a conversation, some are a method you can run yourself, and some are a deliverable. The rest of this post is how to tell which one you are being offered, before you share data.

What should a free TikTok Shop audit actually review?

It should read the places a program loses revenue between a creator and a sale, and say which ones it did not read. For an affiliate program that means creators and their trailing activity, samples and what became of them, outreach and follow-up depth, creative spend and how briefs reach creators. A good offer lists these up front.

Be wary of an audit that only reads the numbers TikTok already shows you. Your own Seller Center reports will tell you what happened. The audit is supposed to compare each creator, sample and creative to the program's own history and say where it leaks. Our post on what a TikTok Shop audit covers lays out the full list.

What access does a free audit need, and how do you limit it?

Read access to program data is enough for most of it. Ad access is a separate decision. TikTok's process for GMV Max says authorization lets a partner create GMV Max campaigns and view ad performance for the shop, stays pending until the shop owner approves it, and can be changed by the owner at any time in Business Center or Seller Center.

Use that. Approve the smallest scope that fits the audit, and decline any request for campaign-creation rights from a firm that only needs to read. Note the date you granted access and the date it should end. If a firm asks for more than it can explain, that is information about how it works.

Who keeps the findings?

You do, and you should confirm it before you send anything. Ask three questions in writing. Do we receive the audit as a document? Can we act on it without hiring you? Will you delete the data we shared if we do not continue?

A firm that answers plainly is telling you how it expects to win the work. A firm that dodges is telling you the audit is a lead form. Our own contract questions for TikTok Shop agencies cover the same ground for paid engagements, including who owns what gets built.

How can you tell a real audit from a pitch meeting?

By what you can say about it afterward. A real audit leaves you with a written list of gaps, each with its evidence and the revenue behind it, in an order you could hand to your team. A pitch meeting leaves you with a description of services and a request for a proposal meeting.

Ask one test question in the first conversation: what will I have in hand when this is over? If the answer is a document, ask to see a sample page of it. If the answer is a call, plan on a call.

How does the Clankers audit answer these questions?

We run the free audit as a build-and-enablement partner, not as an agency. The audit reads creators, affiliates, samples, GMV Max ads and outreach, ranks every gap by the revenue behind it, and ends with a written report plus one workflow that closes the biggest gap, installed in your stack and owned by your team. We do not manage your creators or your ads, so we do not ask for campaign-creation rights to run the audit.

If you want more after that, the 90-Day Revamp continues the work, and AI Advisory is the alternative for teams that want to build with coaching. Clankers is the home of both.
